Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Grenada Mr. Xu Jian Visited Westmorland School

On February 21st, Charge d’affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Grenada Mr. Xu Jian visited Westmorland School. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Grenada, Mr. Xu donated money and books to the School.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Mr. Xu said, after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, the students of Westmorland School donated 560.66 EC to assist in the relief efforts in China, showing their deep friendship to China and Chinese people. At the 10th anniversary of the donation, the Chinese Embassy is happy to give back money and books to the School to show appreciation. He said education plays an extraordinary role in the Sino-Grenadian relations. Educational exchanges and cooperation between the two countries have greatly strengthened the mutual understanding and friendship between China and Grenada.

Mr. Salim Rahaman, Chairman of the Board of Management of the School said, he was pleased to receive the kind and generous donation from the Chinese Embassy. He extended kindhearted appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for its contribution to development of Westmorland School as well as to Grenada.

In her remarks, Mrs. Samantha Antoine-Purcell, Principal of Westmorland School said the donation will help the students better understand Chinese culture and broaden their horizon.

Accompanied by faculties, Mr. Xu toured the School campus.
